Monster Steam Mop - Does It Live Up to It's Name?

!±8± Monster Steam Mop - Does It Live Up to It's Name?

The Monster Steam Mop might not be an infomercial superstar like the Shark and Bissell steam mops but it has more features and seems to rate higher with customer reviews than both of them. There is actually quite a bit to like about this steam sweeper!

The Monster Steam Mop gets hotter than most mops -- 266 degrees to be exact. Why is this important? Many steam sweepers, including the Bissell and Shark, don't get to even the 212 degrees necessary to kill germs and bacteria. The Monster certainly accomplishes this and then some.

The Monster Steam Mop also has some unique design details that other mops don't offer. It has two steam directions so steam comes out of not only the bottom of the machine like other mops, but also from the front of the machine. This makes it possible to clean baseboards and edges and makes getting at corners a little easier.

The four steam levels it offers is also another unique feature that not many mops have. You can adjust the steam level to the type of floor you are mopping and how dirty the mess you are mopping is.

The Monster also has a pretty long cord for a steam sweeper. While many models have power cords that are 20 feet or under, the Monster has a generous 25 foot power cord. It also has a generous sized water tank. It holds 17 ounces of water per fill up. Quite a bit larger than the Shark's 10 ounce tank.

The carpet glide attachment is another strong feature of the Monster Steam Mop. With this attachment, you can sanitize your rugs and carpets. This is really great for killing dust mites which can cause allergy problems for many people. Some people even use their steam sweeper carpet attachments to sanitize their mattresses too.

All these features come with a price though. This mop is a little more expensive than many of the other models available today. It is also heavier than many of them. At 9 lbs, some may find it too much work to push.

Another of its weaknesses is the location of its water tank. Since the water tank is in the mop head base, it has a high profile which isn't ideal for cleaning under cabinets.

I also saw a few customer complaints in the reviews I read for this mop. One was that the handle seemed flimsy. A few people reported that their handle even broke eventually and that Euroflex, the Monster Steam Mop creator, was of little help in correcting the problem. It seems Shark has handle breaking problems and customer service issues too. Haan has the best customer service from what I have read. So if that's important to you, consider the Haan... another good steam sweeper.

Complaints aside, the Monster Steam Mop does have some really strong features and it should not be overlooked as a possibly, especially because of its hot temperature and floor and carpet sanitizing abilities!
